If ever I want to feel intelligent, I listen to the Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2. He invites listeners to phone in for his Topic Of The Day, and makes asinine comments. The whole show is an exhibition of drooling, slack-jawed plebs vociferously asserting their (limited) point of view. Today the idiotic hot-potato was the legality of wearing a hoodie. The listeners expound their theory that all teenagers are intrinsically muggers and rapists, cloaking their evil faces from what is right and good. I imagine these callers, stood naked with phone in one hand, copy of the Daily Mail in the other; red in the face with fury, balding, fat and sweating. They hang up the phone to Jeremy. And furiously masturbate.
